WELCOME

CONFESSION AND FORGIVENESS
Blessed be the holy Trinity, one God,
Giver of all life
Advocate of the forgotten
Breath of sabbath rest.
Amen.

Together we confess our sin in the presence of God and one another.
God who provides,
We confess that we are captive to greed, mistrust, and despair.
We cannot free ourselves
from habits of hoarding and complaining.
God who remembers,
We fear our neighbor’s need
and forget our dependence on you.
We spoil the gift of daily bread.
God who delivers,
We repent of seeing only scarcity
and worrying about what we lack.
We plead for your presence:
grant us rest, set us free, and teach us your
generous ways.

Children of God, there is more than enough.
God’s mercies are new every day:
through Christ Jesus, the Bread of life,
God gathers us together, forgives all our sin,
restores our strength and showers us in mercy.
Thanks be to God!

Take joy in God’s abundant forgiveness, body and
soul, and rise to serve with boldness.
We await your day of jubilee. Come, Lord Jesus.   Amen.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
Holy God, we encounter your gifts of mercy anew each day, at morning, noon, twilight and nightfall.  Gather us by your gracious hand. Teach us to be your people: free from hoarding and quick to share, patterning our lives on Christ our Lord. Amen.

READING
Exodus 16:10-15

And as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the Israelites, they looked toward the wilderness, and the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud. The Lord spoke to Moses and said, “I have heard the complaining of the Israelites; say to them, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread; then you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’”

In the evening quails came up and covered the camp; and in the morning there was a layer of dew around the camp. When the layer of dew lifted, there on the surface of the wilderness was a fine flaky substance, as fine as frost on the ground. When the Israelites saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, “It is the bread that the Lord has given you to eat.”

The word of the Lord.  Thanks be to God.
