Hello, I’m Kristin Skare, an associate pastor at St. Andrew. My areas of ministry include engaging people in the life and ministry of the St. Andrew faith community through small groups, service, support groups, community partners, and new membership. I’m passionate about people and connecting them to opportunities where they may encounter and experience God’s transformational love.
Becoming an ordained Lutheran pastor was not in my life plan. I spent the first part of my life as a middle school public speaking, theater, and human communication teacher. Life took me to Duluth, Minnesota, where I worked for a regional publisher as a book publicist, planning author tours and events and pitching stories to local and national print and media outlets.
My ministry began when I applied for a part-time education position that turned into a twenty-five-year journey as the Director of Children, Youth, and Family, Minister of Spiritual Care, and then to Luther Seminary, leading to my third career as an ordained pastor in Rogers, Minnesota.
I met my husband Rick, also an ELCA Pastor, at St. Olaf College. We have three delightful grown children, a son-in-law, and a grandson, who all bring us joy. When not wearing my pastor hat, I treasure spending time with family and friends, hiking, reading, singing, traveling, and gardening.
