“Not forgiving is like drinking rat poison and waiting for the rat to die,” writes Anne Lamott. We may think ourselves beyond generous to forgive someone seven times but Jesus challenges our thinking by saying, “not seven times but seventy-seven times.” In other words, for those of us who follow Christ, forgiveness becomes not so much an act but a way of life. How are we equipping ourselves to face this giant of resentment?
