Mary Magdalene, a Much-Maligned Disciple
Text: John 20:11-13
Mary Magdalene has been called many things throughout the centuries, but she is most clearly named a follower of Jesus, one bold enough to sneak to the tomb on Easter morning to be among the first witnesses to the resurrection. How might our preconceptions or biases prevent us from seeing the amazing people doing God's work in our lives?
Oh, the Places We'll Go
God is always on the move, expanding into the world, carving out welcome, bringing belonging, changing the world for the better. Even when we are moving about this summer, enjoying the cabin, exploring our world, and taking vacations, God is moving us and our world in places we might never imagine. Join us this summer while we explore the wild and woolly places that God takes God's people. Each week, we'll look at a character from Scripture or a group of people who go on a grand adventure with God. We'll listen to what God is doing and wonder how God is adventuring each of us today.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
Loving God, you have made each of us a new creation in Christ, and you remove our sins from us as far as the east is from the west. Inspire us by the witness of Mary Magdalene and make us eager to share the good news of Christ. Encourage all who respond to your call to ministry. Open our hearts to receive them as evangelists, pastors, and teachers. We pray this is Jesus’ name, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

READING
John 20:11-13
But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and the other at the feet. They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.”
The word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.
