Thomas, to the End of the World

Text: John 14:1-6 or John 20:24-29
Poor, doubting Thomas. Or is he? We will look together at Thomas's legacy.. Legend has it that he made it all the way to India to start churches that far predate the British arrival on the subcontinent. We'll wonder together how God might call us to places far and wide.

Oh, the Places We'll Go

God is always on the move, expanding into the world, carving out welcome, bringing belonging, changing the world for the better. Even when we are moving about this summer, enjoying the cabin, exploring our world, and taking vacations, God is moving us and our world in places we might never imagine. Join us this summer while we explore the wild and woolly places that God takes God's people. Each week, we'll look at a character from Scripture or a group of people who go on a grand adventure with God. We'll listen to what God is doing and wonder how God is adventuring each of us today.

PRAYER OF THE DAY
God our creator, you call the most unlikely people to share the good news, including us!   Move us therefore from doubt and uncertainty into unshakable faith that translates into action for the sake of the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

READING
John 14:1-7
Ruth Bachman

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.  In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.  If you know me, you will knowmy Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”

The word of the Lord.  Thanks be to God.
