Love is Food
It has often been said that “food is love.” Jesus gives new meaning to this when he shares with his disciples a meal with bread and wine (remembered as Holy Communion). He unites us around a new commandment that shapes the way we live in this world—“love one another as I have loved you”. Join us at 6:00 PM for a unique expression of Maundy Thursday worship as we gather in the Fellowship Hall for “dinner church”!

WELCOME
OPENING LITANY
Let us join together, giving thanks to God our Father for all the gifts God so freely bestows upon us. For the beauty and wonder of God’s creation, in earth and sky and sea.
We thank you, Lord.
For all that is good and gracious in the lives of your children.
We thank you, Lord.
For daily food and drink, our homes, families, and friends,
We thank you, Lord
For minds to think, and hearts to love, and hands to serve,
We thank you, Lord.
For health and strength to work, and leisure to rest and play,
We thank you, Lord.
For all people who work for justice and peace.
Congregation: We thank you, Lord.
For the communion of your saints, in all times and places,
We thank you, Lord.
Above all, we give you thanks for your grace and promises that you give to us in Jesus Christ our Lord,
We thank you, Lord, now and forever. Amen.
OPENING PRAYER
Eternal God, in the sharing of a meal your Son established a new covenant for all people, and in the washing of feet he showed us the dignity of service. Grant that by the power of your Holy Spirit these signs of our life in faith may speak again to our hearts, feed our spirits, and refresh our bodies, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

CONFESSION
Most merciful God,
we confess that we are captive to sin
and cannot free ourselves.
We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us.
Forgive us, renew us, and lead us,
so that we may delight in your will
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your holy name. Amen.
God, who is rich in mercy, loved us
even when we were dead in sin,
and made us alive together with Christ.
By grace you have been saved.
In the name of ☩ Jesus Christ, your sins are forgiven.
Almighty God strengthen you with power
through the Holy Spirit,
that Christ may live in your hearts through faith.
Amen.
