10:30 AM Contemporary: (Advent 1) – ‘Lament Now’

READING Isaiah 61:1-4 God is always present. God is an ever-present God. In creation. In restoration. God does not ignore our transgressions. God is greatly troubled when we sin, hurt others, and ourselves. But God is also a God of restoration and renewal. Thankfully for us, each and every day of our lives, God comes to us with all that God has to give. Which, by the way, is everything!

Worship (10:30 AM Contemporary) “To Whom Shall We Listen?”

Text: Isaiah 30:19-21 “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you saying, ‘This is the way. Walk in it.’” (Isaiah 30:21). We all have fans. We all have critics. We all have people who are cheering for us, and we can all learn things- even from those who really don’t want us to succeed. How do we learn to block out the voices of negativity in our lives and turn…

Worship (10:30 AM Contemporary) “Living With Christ”

Text: Romans 12:9-18 Living with others can be a challenge but the apostle Paul gives us sage advice: “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.” This sounds good but is it more easily said than done? A cynic once described large churches as “more sinners under one roof!” But God equips us with all the grace we need and more to live in harmony with all people. Join us as we…

Worship (10:30 AM Contemporary) “Party Crashers”

Text: Matthew 22:1-14 The parable of the wedding banquet delves in the question of who, exactly, is invited into the party that is God’s kingdom.  What does it mean if we don’t have the “right clothes” to wear to the party?  Are we party crashers if Jesus himself invites us and even provides the “right clothes” when he gives us his own righteousness?

Worship (10:30 AM Contemporary) “Success”

Text: Luke 12:13-21 Success can be a double-edged sword.  Even while God is equipping us to “do all things through Christ who strengthens [us],” Jesus warns us that “life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.”  How do we measure our success and have we ever “arrived” or does God call us to deeper purposes than success as our world defines it?
