Teachable | Worship Together

Text: Psalm 78: 1-4
The Bible has much to teach us in every phase of our lives. Sunday, we're introducing a new Worship Together offering, where all ages will engage in the same story and worship experience. Join us in worship as we learn how much Scripture has to teach us. But the challenge—are we teachable or hard-headed? God is always ready to teach us something, open up a new pathway for growth, or pick us up when we struggle.

Forged

When something is forged, it begins as a raw and unformed material. It becomes something useful - shaped by heat, pressure, and purpose. In the same way, we are forged by God, created with intention, accompanied by Jesus' love and grace, and shaped through life's experiences. Through discovery and challenges, we are constantly becoming -  learning, growing, and finding meaning. And through it all, God is with us, working in surprising ways of grace to reassure, inspire, and impact the world with purpose and humility.

OPENING RESPONSES
Come young ones and old ones, both tall ones and short.
come rich ones and poor ones; we’re all God’s cohort.

Let’s worship God now, together as one.
We worship God now, together as one.

With anger or fear,  or hope or depression,
gather us God in trust and confession.

Let’s worship God now, together as one.
We worship God now, together as one.

We bring you our song, our laughter and deed.
We bring you our sorrow, our worry and creed.

Let’s worship God now, together as one.
We worship God now, together as one.

So weave us together, as family and friends,
an unbroken circle with love never ends.

As your children gather, each of us one,
we live out your callings, ‘til your will be done.

Let’s worship God now, together as one.
We worship God now, together as one.

Let’s worship God now, together as one.
We worship God now, together as one.

And all of God’s children said? Amen!

OPENING  SONG
“Counting Every Blessing”
(Words projected)

PRAYER OF THE DAY
God who loves us all, bring us together and teach us to better serve all of your creation. Shape us into a community where each of us matters, each of us belongs, and where we live out your care wherever we go.  Amen.

SCRIPTURE & STORY
Psalm 78:1-4

Give ear, O my people, to my teaching;
incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
I will open my mouth in a parable;
I will utter dark sayings from of old,
things that we have heard and known,
that our ancestors have told us.
We will not hide them from their children;
we will tell to the coming generation
the glorious deeds of the Lord and his might
and the wonders that he has done.

The word of the Lord.  Thanks be to God.
