Zion Baptist Church: “All Our Good Holiday Giving”
Project Partner: Zion Baptist Church (621 Elmwood Avenue North in Minneapolis)
Description: Zion Baptist Church of Minneapolis lead by Pastor Brian Herron is a prominent black congregation in North Minneapolis. Holiday Giving 2021 will partner with Zion in supporting the church’s “All Our Good Holiday Giving”, a celebration of Christmas giving for the church’s neighborhood. Contributions can be made in three ways:
- Christmas gifts for children and youth–Families of the neighborhood struggle to provide Christmas gifts for their children. Donate gifts for children aged birth through high school so that parents can choose what they would like to give their children. Please spend at least $10 per gift and if purchasing dolls or action figures, please purchase black or brown skin color only. St. Andrew goal: 750 gifts.
- Any financial contributions given to “All Our Good Holiday Giving” will be used to purchase gift cards or books Zion volunteers plan to purchase for the neighborhood children and youth. Make a donation by clicking the button below.
- Volunteers are welcomed to be a part of preparations and the event. Volunteer slots will be on Friday afternoon, December 17th and Saturday, December 18th. Volunteers are to be adults and high school youth with their parents/guardians. COVID vaccine or negative covid test 48 hours prior to serving is required. Tasks require modest physical activity. Please withdraw from participation if symptomatic of illness. NOTE: A training event (TBD) will be held over Zoom prior to the event.
For the Gift Sorting Party on Sunday, December 12, at St. Andrew, we will be meeting in the Fellowship Hall to sort and box all gifts. All ages are welcome. Parents/guardians, please accompany your children.
