Zion Baptist Church: “All Our Good Holiday Giving”

Project Partner: Zion Baptist Church (621 Elmwood Avenue North in Minneapolis)

Cost: Varies based on in-kind gifts purchased or financial donation

Description: Zion Baptist Church of Minneapolis lead by Pastor Brian Herron is a prominent black congregation in North Minneapolis. Holiday Giving 2022 will partner with Zion in supporting the church’s “All Our Good Holiday Giving”, a celebration of Christmas giving for the church’s neighborhood. Contributions can be made in three ways:

  1. Christmas gifts for children and youth—Families of the neighborhood struggle to provide Christmas gifts for their children. Donate gifts for children aged birth through high school so that parents can choose what they would like to give their children. Please spend at least $10 per gift. When purchasing toys, please choose Black or brown dolls and action figures and do not purchase any toys or games that feature white children or families on the packaging. Thank you! St. Andrew goal: 500 gifts and $1,000 of books.
  2. Volunteers are welcomed to be a part of preparations and the event. Volunteer slots will be available at the sorting party at St. Andrew on Sunday, November 27th, and at Zion on Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd. Tasks require modest physical activity. If interested in volunteering, adults and high school youth with parents/guardians are invited to sign up here.
  3. Any financial contributions given to “All Our Good Holiday Giving” will be used to purchase gifts or books for the neighborhood children and youth.

Training: A virtual training event (TBD) may be held for all volunteers prior to the event.

Gift deadline: Sunday, November 27
