Pastor Kegler believes God welcomes all people, especially the LGBTQ+ community. Join us for informal discussion on August 11 or 25 (9:00 AM or 6:30 PM) as we learn more together about God’s all-inclusive welcome.
Book: One Coin Found: How God’s Love Stretches to the Margins by Emmy Kelger
Book description: ELCA Pastor Emmy Kegler has a complicated relationship with the Bible. As a queer women who grew up in the church, she knows too well how Scripture can be used to wound and exclude. And yet, the stories of scripture continued to captivate her. So she set out to fall in love with the Bible, wrestling with the stories inside, where she met a God who continues to seek us out – appearing again and again as a voice, a presence, and a promise. Kegler shows us that even when we feel like lost and dusty coins, God picks up a broom and sweeps every corner of creation to find us.
Time/Dates: Thursdays, August 11 and 25 at either 9:00 AM or 6:30 PM in Room 207. Read at your own pace; gather for small group discussion with Pastor Peter Johnson and other readers.
