Requirements:

• Minimum 16 years of age
• Demonstrates respect for children and a nurturing attitude
• Must meet training requirements and qualifications under Rule 3 MN Department of Human Services Licensing Division
• Adult and Pediatric CPR, First Aid and AED Certifications within 90 days of hire date
• Able to organize, and implement program and classroom activities under the guidance of teaching staff

Job Summary: 

The Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for executing the church's day-to-day digital communication through social media, short-form video, written content, photography, and content coordination across ministry areas. This role works within a defined content strategy to ensure communication is consistent, timely, and reflective of the St. Andrew community.   Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to be positive, creative, manage and complete multiple deadlines, and possess a collaborative working style. 

 Essential Functions: 

1. Embrace, live, and promote St. Andrew’s core values and mission. This includes nurturing the future of faith by cultivating beloved community, encouraging faithful curiosity, equipping all as servant leaders and being all-inclusive.  The role further ensures everyone experiences our Mission:  You Matter, You Belong.  We Care. 
2. Coordinate social media execution across church platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Spotify. Schedules and publishes content in accordance with the content calendar developed with the Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications. Monitors comments and messages and responds or routes appropriately. Ensures all content is posted accurately and on schedule.  Communicates with Sr. Director of Marketing and Communications if deadlines might not be met or challenges are faced. 
3. Creates short-form video content for social media platforms including Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts. Edits and formats video content for each platform. Captures or repurposes existing footage for social distribution. 
4. Write blog content (2x per month) aligned with ministry priorities and the overall communication strategy. Submits finished content to the Creative & Technical Specialist for publishing.
5. Serves as a primary photographer at worship services and key church events. Captures moments that reflect the life and community of St. Andrew. Organizes and files photos with clear naming conventions for easy access and searchability. Provides images for social media, our website, and ministry communication needs.
6. Coordinates content from ministry leaders across the church, Early Learning, and Camp. Follows up to ensure all required content is received prior to deadlines. Assists in organizing content for social media and other communication channels.
7. Maintains the social media content calendar at least two weeks in advance in accordance with departmental guidelines and direction from the Sr. Director. 

Non-Essential Functions: 

1. Assists with creative updates to website content and photos as requested.
2. Supports church events by assisting with on-site photography or content capture. 
3. Other duties as assigned.

 Competency, Education, Training, Licenses, Knowledge, Technical Skills, Supervisory, and Other Required Experience

• Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, a related field, or equivalent professional experience 
• 2–4 years of experience in digital marketing, social media, or communications 
• Demonstrated experience creating short-form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts 
• Strong working knowledge of social media platforms and scheduling tools 
• Comfortable with Canva for basic graphic and caption needs 
• Experience with photography and basic photo editing
• Strong written communication skills — ability to write clearly, accurately, and in a consistent brand voice 
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with minimal supervision 
• Demonstrated ability to present error-free, detail-oriented work on consistent weekly and monthly timelines 
• Ability to work a full-time schedule Monday - Friday as well as occasional evenings, holidays, and special events 
• Must be able to engage cordially and professionally with diverse groups of volunteers, members, staff, and congregation demographics 
• Openness to training and continuing education for job-related responsibilities as encouraged 
• Understanding of church culture and ministry context preferred

Mental and Physical Requirements: 

Occasional extended workday hours; up to 10–12 hours per day with seasonal church demands including Lent, Holy Week, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Wednesday Night Dinners (school calendar year), and special events.

Normal work week involves up to 8 hours per day with detailed, computer-based work. Must be able to balance shifting priorities while maintaining established timelines and communicate proactively when challenges arise.   

Work environment:  

Office, desk, and computer setting. Occasional on-site work at worship services and events. Some outdoor work may be required as it relates to photography at events and on special occasions. 

Expected hours of work: 

Full-time, 40+ hours per week. Standard schedule is Monday through Friday with occasional need for overtime, evening hours, Sundays, and special events. (See Mental and Physical Requirements)

Salary Range:  

$53,000 - $57,000 DOQ 

FLSA Status:   

Exempt, 40+ hours per week with some flexibility and occasional need for long-hour days
